The courses are intended for adult players of grade 6/7 and above (based loosely on ABRSM levels). They are based on wind quintets, quartets and trios with some larger ensembles, and are suitable for both individual players seeking opportunities for playing with others of a similar standard, and also for pre-formed groups looking for coaching.
Courses start with all participants playing together in a large ensemble. The next day players are divided into chamber groups and given music and a rehearsal room. Tutors rotate around the groups spending 15-30 minutes with each group depending on numbers. The main aim of the course is to experience playing chamber music and to gain a better understanding of sight reading and effective chamber playing and rehearsal. On the longer summer course there is a pianist and the chance to perform solo work as well as specialist instrumental workshops.
